Calculating Gallons
Hi, I知 Joe from webbsonline and today I知 going to show you how to calculate the number of gallons in your pond.
Whether treating your pond with chemicals, bacteria, or sizing a filter or pump, you値l need to know how many gallons your pond holds. The formula we池e discussing today is pretty basic, and is not intended for circular ponds. We値l go into that formula in another video.
To start, you値l need 3 measurements. Length, width and average depth. These measurements must be made in feet. First, multiply L x W x avg D. This will give us our cubic feet. Because there are approximately 7 ｽ gallons of water in a cubic foot, you値l then multiply that number by 7.5. Giving us our total number of gallons.
For example, a pond 10 x 10 x 2 is 200 cubic feet. 200 x 7.5 is 1,500. So, a pond 10 x 10 x 2 is approximately 1,500 gallons
For more elaborate systems with large overflow tanks and waterfalls, those additional gallons need to be calculated as well. So, please give me a call and we can discuss those further. I知 Joe from webbsonline, talk to you then.
