UV bulbs generally have a lifespan around 12 months of continuous use and should be replaced accordingly. Obviously, if you're climate forces you to winterize the unit, and you're only running it 7, 8, 9 months a year, take that into consideration.
Before getting started, unplug both the pump and filter before servicing the filter. Remove the top plastic cover surrounding control panel. All this can be done without the use of tools. Rotate the Electronic Control Board counter clockwise to disengage it from the lid. Now be aware, the UV bulb will come up with the Control Board, so pull straight up. Believe me, breakage here happens a lot. So be careful. Grip the white base of the UV bulb and pull it free from the socket. (Replace bulb) Note, when replacing try to use rubber gloves if you have them. This will eliminate the transfer of oil from your hands to the bulb, which can lead to bulb failure. For more information on this procedure, replacing the quartz sleeve, or bulb replacement on another filter- please don't hesitate to call.
