How to Install an Aqua UV Upgrade Kit for a Savio Skimmer

A question I receive a lot throughout the year is, “How to install an Aqua UV in my Savio Skimmer?” Today, I’ll walk you through those steps. First, you’ll need the upgraded baffle shield, or mounting plate, if you don’t already have one. This is the new. Main difference from its predecessor, is a much smaller opening, and no more twist and lock adaption.

Clean your pond

Generally, they won’t fit out of the box, as these Savio mounting plates are manufactured to house Savio UV Systems. So, Aqua Ultraviolet provides a grinding stone in each box. Use this with a power drill to gently file the opening of the Baffle Shield to allow the Black Threaded Connector to fit. This should take less than a minute.

Clean your pond

After grinding, and the opening is large enough- Slide the top end of the quartz assembly up through by placing the end of the Black Threaded Connector into the bottom of the Baffle Shield until the top threads are visible through the top and the Aqua UV Logo is visible just below.

Go ahead and plug the lamp into the Lamp End Connector and insert the Lamp straight into the Quartz Sleeve assembly. .

Clean your pond

Hold the assembly by the White End Compression Nut under the Baffle and the Blue Transformer Cap above the Baffle spinning ONLY the nut to tighten. Do not tighten the Transformer Cap. Remember, hand tighten only.
