Microbe-Lift/Legacy Sinking (transitional) pellets are a great way to make sure your newly added pond fish receive balanced meals while adjusting to their new surroundings. Generally, new fish are “shy” until they become more familiar with their surroundings and new neighbors. Additionally, sinking pellets are great for stressed or sick fish that don’t come to the pond’s surface and feed off the bottom of the pond.

To pass inspection, your sinking fish food must have at least 70% of pellets that sink, and floating food must have at least 70% that stay afloat. This requirement isn’t a drawback, but actually a benefit. In every pond, some fish are less competitive at feeding time. Having a mix of pellets that behave differently ensures those shy or slower fish still get access to nutrition.

Feeding Suggestions: When water temperature is consistently below 40°F degrees, stop feeding. Once water temperature is consistently above 40°F, but below 60°F, feed once daily. If water temperature is consistently above 60°F but below 70°F, two times daily during the warmest part of the day. When water temperature is consistently above 70°F, feed two to four times daily. Warmer temperatures bring more activity which requires more food. Please do not exceed the amount your fish will eat within three to five minutes of feeding. Remove all remaining food after the feeding period to avoid over-feeding and the water quality problems which can result from this action.

Feeding Suggestions: Feed two (2) or four (4) times daily, but do not exceed the amount your fish will consume within about a minute. Always remove any uneaten food after the feeding period to avoid over-feeding and the water quality issues that can result. When the water temperature is consistently below 50ºF or above 86ºF, reduce the amount fed based on the activity level of your fish and condition of your aquarium.
