Reviews and Ratings

tetra pond bio-active pressure filter BP1500noUV

Pros: simple, low maintenance, instructions clear and filter is well labeled.

Cons: the back flush outlet leaks but simple ball valve fixed that.

the filter works very well, i have 1000gal pond with 6 large koi and runs well all year round. i recommend using the largest hose the filter in/out ports can use. i use a in pond pump gal/hr rating in the upper recommended limits and it works very well. on the out side i have a water fall, back flushing is quick and clean(no dirty hands). my setup height for all equipment is within 1-2' of all components. i also recommend to get a ball valve for the clean port as it will dribble out water when not in use. also the in-port should need a 1way valve to prevent back flow into the pond should power to the pump be cut. all in all this unit is very simple to setup and maintain. i will be using it now for year 2 and consider using it going forward. i would recommend to go for the UV kit version also as i find myself wanting to simplify my accessories(remove external UV unit) and get the internal UV parts. the BP1500 is solid performer. get it..
